John Lee Wilson, formerly of Wausau, passed away on March 19, 2018 at the age of 73 in Appleton, Wisconsin after a long struggle with chronic respiratory disease. John was born in Wakefield, Michigan and grew up in Laona, Wisconsin. John graduated from Laona High School, the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.S.), Cardinal Stritch of Milwaukee (M. S.), and Nova Southeastern University of Fr. Lauderdale, Florida with a Doctorate in Business Administration. His business career with Liberty Mutual Insurance Companies (parent company of Wausau Insurance Companies) spanned 32 years of technical and management responsibilities in information systems and technology. As a university professor for 25 years, he taught business, information systems and technology courses at the bachelor, masters, and doctoral levels; online and in the class room. John retired as a full-time program manager and professor of information technology for Regis University’s College of Computer and Information Sciences in Denver, Colorado. John is survived by his loving wife Dera and their daughter Heather (Bob) Pagel. Grandfather of Alexis Payette of Madison, WI and Natalie Payette of Appleton, WI. Brother of Marge (Thomas) Durant and Jane (Rusty) Yaeger of Laona, WI and Patricia Wilson of Litttleton, CO. John is preceded in death by his parents John and Margaret Wilson and his granddaughter Aria Payette. Private services for John will be held a later date. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Century Oaks and the Theda Care Hospice team of Kelly, Paula, Robin, and Jonathon.
