With the wind at his back and ukulele nearby Patrick O’Donnell left his wide circle of family and friends on January 22, 2018. The Irish have unique ways of handling adversity. Knowing his time was on the short side, he and his loving partner Sue Kerzisnik, embarked on his living wake tour. He visited family in South Dakota and headed south to Las Vegas and Zion National Park. Irish luck was with him when Sue picked him up in an airport five years ago. Throughout Pat’s challenges Sue has been with him and his family providing her love, hugs, transport, considerable professional experience and anything else we needed. Pat has been the family rock - helping siblings, providing encouraging words, organizing gatherings, and representing the family at happy and sad events. Keeping our diverse family together was always important to Pat. Pat leaves behind his very special son Daniel O’Donnell and his mate Khishigee Ganbold, sisters Susan O’Donnell Baer (Rob Armstrong), Kathie O’Donnell (Mark Thalacker) and brother Michael J. O’Donnell. He has two nephews Michael F. O’Donnell (Talia), David Baer and niece Kim Johnson. He is the son of Frank and Dolores O’Donnell (deceased) of Chicago, Illinois. Pat has many long-time friends and cousins whom he has enjoyed over the years and would want to give Aunt Jeanne special mention. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Kelly and Bev, his hospice nurses, for all the help and support given to Pat and Sue over the last months. Pat retained his sense of humor until the end. We are certain that these ladies never cared for a soul who made them laugh as hard and often as Pat did. A memorial service for Pat will be held on Saturday, February 3 at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 601 S. Washington St., Combined Locks, WI 54113. Family and friends are welcome at 9:30a.m. A celebratory luncheon will be held at Osorios Latin Fusion, 1910 N. Casaloma Dr., Appleton, WI 54913 immediately after. In lieu of flowers, Patrick truly hoped that you might join him in his support of the Misericordia Home. Donations should be directed as follows: In Memory of Patrick O’Donnell and in honor of John Meyer #1719 with checks payable to Misericordia Home, 6300 N Ridge Ave, Chicago, IL, 60660.
